How to live in the present moment

When I wake up in the morning and sit alone for some time or brush my teeth, I find myself lost somewhere. There's a thought process that keeps running in my mind. It can be anything that has happened yesterday. Sometimes it's a visual recall of a movie or some webisode or anything random.

The same thought process goes on while I drive on the bike. I hardly pay attention to the road but reach my destination safely. May be subconscious mind help me in that. I keep on thinking about random things and my mind is engaged in that process all the time.

I feel lost most of the time. I turn on the TV and keep on scrolling on the phone. This also happens when my mom talks to me. I observed this and tried to change it several times. Actually, our mind should be present at the moment and observe things around us.

I tried to observe every small thing around me. In the morning I stand on the balcony and inhale the fresh air and observe the chirping of birds around. A half an hour of this exercise makes me rejuvenated and fresh. After that, I read the newspaper and columns instead of reading them on mobile. I have tried 'Digital Sabbath' in which you give up all the gadgets for 24 hours. You can do this every once a week. Yes, it's possible for me.

So these are some of my life hacks to keep you aware of your surroundings and live in the present moment. You can also watch Sherlock Holmes and you will realize the power of observation. There's beauty in every moment, you just have to live in it. Cheers!
